Colva Beach

Colva beach is the most popular of the southern beaches of Goa. The sand is white (officially 'silvery') and soft. This shot was taken on a Saturday afternoon and you can see the crowd. The herd mentality of the people can also be seen here. Though the beach stretches for miles, all head for the same 100 meters of the beach. The uniqueness of the southern beaches of Goa is that they are actually a single stretch of coastline and you can walk from one to other. That day I walked from Colva beach to the Varca beach which is around 6 kms away.

Benaulim Beach is no great shakes. The sand is browner than Colva, but, not so soft. Its known only because the Taj Resort lies on it. The Taj resort is really huge and very beautiful. Must be horribly expensive too as there were no one on the beach.
Varca Beach

Varca Beach is a little better than Benaulim. This beach has 2 resorts - Radisson and Club Mahindra. By the time I reached Varca, a huge thundercloud burst and I was completely drenched. Photo on the right shows the Varca church which is 300 years old.
