Kodaikanal
Kodaikanal is one of Tamilnadu's most famous hill stations. Though it is very small and isolated compared to Ooty, it attracts lakhs of tourists in the peak season. I went there in April, which is probably a very good time to go, but, there was a lot of mist, which is not so great for digital photography.
Lake

The Lake is the most popular tourist spot. The government has cleaned the lake recently and recovered a large part of the lake (when I went last time, more than half the lake was covered by Hyacinth). You can have boat rides. There also horse rides and cycles available for rent around the lake. These are many views of the lake.
Upper Lake View
This is the upper view of the lake.
Upper Lake View (Different angle)
A little down the road from the official Upper Lake View, I found a better view. Unfortunately, it was a little cloudy and the shot is not as good as it should have been.
Bryant Park
I have been to Kodai twice and both times skipped this park. Maybe the rubbish in front of this park puts me off. However, I snuck in this picture by standing on the fence wall. Its just opposite the lake.
Coakers Walk
This one km walk gives you a great panoromic view of around Kodaikanal. It is alleged that on a clear day you can almost upto Madurai. However, it remains misty for most parts of the year. So, tough luck !.
Bear Shola Falls
I know ! This is no falls. It seems it is quite good in the rainy season. Anyway, it was pathetic when we went there. However, it is a good picnic spot and there are great chocolate (homemade chocolates and marshmellows) and shops opposite to it.
Green Valley View (a.k.a Suicide Point)
Green valley view was formerly called Suicide point. This place is heavily fenced and the narrow inlet and outlet points make the crowds even more intense. I don't know if the suicides were to escape the maddening crowds.
Golf course
Opposite the green valley view s this beautiful green golf course. Shame that no one seems to be using it.
Pillar Rocks - Garden
When we arrived at Pillar rocks, the mist was so much that we could not see the rocks at all. I had to content with taking a picture of the garden around the viewing point, which is quite beautiful itself.
Pillar Rocks
We were about to leave and suddenly the mist cleared a bit and we got a decent view of the rocks.
Pine Forest
A little distance from the Pillar rocks viewing point, you have the pine forests. The smell from the pine trees are great.
Observatory
Three Kms from the lake, on one of the highest points of Kodaikanal you have a solar observatory. This observatory is not a great tourist destination, but, I definitely recommend it. On the day when we went, there were a quite a few tourists and the researchers there were quite thrilled to show us around. The photo is of the old observatories.
Silver Cascade

Not great photographs, but, no apologies. They were taken from a fairly fast travelling bus. Silver Cascade is waterfall 8 kms from Kodaikanal on the road to Dindigul / Madurai.
Sunset at Dindigul
A sunset shot on the road to Dindigul. Again taken through the back of a moving bus.
