Replica of Padmanaba Swamy

The bus dropped me off 2 kms away from Kovalam. En-route I saw this stone replica of the Padmanabha Swamy bedecked in flowers.

Hawa Beach

The Kovalam beach is divide into 3 parts. I entered the second beach (hawa) first. The beach was quite terrible. The sand was extremly black, though the water itself looked clear enough (unlike alapuzha). Nobody was able explain to me why it was so black, but, strangely, when I was about to leave the beach did look a little cleaner (or browner).

Light House Beach

The light house beach is most popular among the beaches. That day however, there was no one on the beach as it was twice as dirty as Hawa beach.

2 Buddhas - Me and the Light House

As the beach stunk and I did not want to take a dip, I climbed the rocks towards the Light House. The view from their of the sea was spell binding.

Samudra Beach

This is the first beach and mostly used by localites and fishermen. I went here last and as I said earlier the beach looked cleaner as the day progressed. I took a dip in and the water was surprisingly cold (as the temperature outside was well above 30 deg cent). The dip was quite pleasant.
