Mahishasura

Mysore is named so after the asura (demon god) Mahishasura, who is said to have ruled here. This statue of Mahishasura is on the top of the chamundi hills. The chamundi hills is one the seven most holy hills in India.

Chamundeshwari Temple

Chamundeshwari is the royal deity of Mysore. during dasara the deity is taken on procession atop the Golden Howdah. This photo was taken on Vijaydashmi day (last day of Dasara). There were thousands of devotees.

Nandi - Bull

This massive bull depicting Nandi - Shiva's Bull lies on the way to the Chamundeshwari temple on the Chamundi hills.

St. Philomena's Church

This church is quite recent (1933) and is one the most grandest churches in India.

Brindvan Gardens

Brindavan gardens lies next to the Krishnaraja Sagar Dam (19 kms from Mysore). The garden is beautiful with the lush green grass and colourful flowers.
