The temples are not exactly at Ponda, which is more a comercial town of Goa and not a tourist one. Ponda is situated on the Ghat side and the journey from Ponda to Panaji is most beautiful. The below temples is around 6 KMs from Ponda. Visit date 7 Feb 2005.

Mahalsya (pronounced Malsa) temple is a very unique temple. It is dedicated to the female form of Lord Vishnu. Goan temples are quite different from thetraditional dravidan temple. All of them have a lamp tower beside the temple. The temple complex is very peaceful. There are two more smaller temples on the side of the main one.

The Mangeshi temple is one of the oldest in Goa. The deity was shifted from Cortalim after the Portugese destroyed the temple in 1557. The temple complex is huge with the traditional pond.
